The five classmates have been working to locate others from the school, and they recently sent out postcards to those for which they had addresses. A commemorative plaque now marks the site where the school once stood. The school closed in 1969 following and Jefferson/S.U.E. From 1966-68 it was re-named South Upper Elementary, and students attending became the Rebels. The last high school class graduated from the school in 1965. Jefferson was built in 1924 and those attending were known as Spartans. "It's been over four decades since we roamed the halls of a very special place where students from Banquo, Jefferson, Rock Creek, Lancaster and Warren all shared one thing in common - their wonder years," classmates Jan Reed, Drex Reed, Diane Hall, Lorraine Maul and Linda Foust say in a news release. They also encourage alumni to visit a Web site set up exclusively for them where they can update their addresses and other personal information. The classmates are planning a reunion for Saturday, May 30 at the Fabulous 105 and want to make sure all alumni have been invited. Five former classmates from 44 years ago are looking for other Jefferson Township School/ South Upper Elementary alumni who attended the school between 19.
